We write on tablets
not made of stone
we express feelings
not quite our own
we push our bodies
we stretch our minds
bubble wrap existence
spending ourselves blind
misinformation
artificial news
red meat reporting
the cure for the blues
the end of the world
happens every day
turn on the big screen
turn our earnest eyes away
poor people are a
dime a dozen
it's hand-to-mouth
and one in the oven
leaders make war
gung-ho crack appeal
money monkeys
got that late 1920s feel
shoot the mirror
to hell with this place
I need a transfusion
I need uncommon grace
misinformation
artificial head
alternative realities
the comfortably dead.
