With my own eyes
no longer there
just clouds and wishes
tucked in a prayer
words are expelled
to no avail
miles of denial
greet fire and hail
the morning calm
a pregnant sky
errant birds
give birth to the lie
finding meaning
where smoke said hello
song and silence
for people you know
under their rocks
and out of their holes
the leaders emerge
to replenish our bowls
with vengeance
for lack of foresight
the penitent few
the long and fitful night
with my own eyes
no longer there
your presence towers
crescent hangs in the air.

Re: The Next Day
I remember the emotions: shock, horror, revulsion. Still hopeful, as a different path is available to be found.
