Guns on drugs
the popular creed
recited with a
tepid smile
without a piece
the golden fleece
seems hardly
worth the while
guns on drugs
point of sale
a moment
lost in time
treasure to keep
disciples of creep
make splitting hairs
a crime
holy mother
beware my brother
help my jaded eyes
to see
the cost of greed
outpaces need
at least
the air is free
guns on drugs
faith is flagging
too afraid
to sympathize
we're all outsiders
with golden blinders
and pride enough
to paralyze
guns on drugs
the kids complying
money takes
the lion's share
just reward
for industry and effort
one soul
in disrepair
I know,
it could be even worse
I know,
the book chapter and verse
I know,
like dying in reverse
guns on drugs
paradise on the cheap
respectable criminals
whatever helps you sleep.
