Sweepers

Post by LJAmara » Mon Jul 11, 2016 3:35 pm

This Growling, snarling beast
A single glaring eye
Illuminates the path ahead
If it can go, then so shall I

Surging swiflty forward
Leaves all stragglers behind
Red skin rippling, increasing speed
Erase all troubles from my mind

Rolling canyon sweepers
Passes of the mountains
Dizzying heights, narrow dark paths
Back down to low country again

The tapping of a toe
Quick subtle flick of wrist
Racing to unknown horizons
No sorrows, no regrets exist

Turn the final corner
Reluctantly return
I know that come tomorrow morn'
Again for sweepers I will yearn

I like the visuals too.

Enjoyed it muchos.

Made me think of hiking at night, through the red rocks of an Arizona canyon, with a head lamp on my head to see.

The Sweepers...I thought of as wind through the canyons...and as the nocturnal wildlife out at night, preying.

And now, I think also of controlled burns in forest, "sweeping" the debris. Fascinating how the rangers, etc., control those burns.

Oooh! I like your interpretation Nekot! Makes me hesitant to mention what my "sweepers" really are. Thank you for responding, and you as well Sir Heinzs!

I'll just say that my inspiration for this piece was my newfound love of two wheeled mobility and the winding highways that "sweep" through canyons and up and over mountain passes. Annie picked up a used Star 650 last month and has been accompanying me on my jaunts.

The freedom of interpretation is one of the things I love about poetry. This diversity of meaning is the signature of the exceptional in art, literature, scripture, etc. This is an exceptional piece.

Interpretation must be individually done by the reader. Each of our unique experiences form and shape how we perceive the world about us. Poetry and music are the only forms of expression that step outside the bounds of physical self and allow the touching of our souls.

Ooo...

When I read about your love of two wheeled mobility, I got goose bumples. I have a love for that too...but mine is a bicycle instead of a motorcycle. I'm having to take a break due to some surgery. I am missing it and envisioning riding again - hopefully in November. I mainly ride Greenways and rail trails..through the woods. It's good medicine. :thewave:
