Little bloodsuckers
I don't quite care for you
You seem attached to me
For some reason
Taking advantage
Of my vulnerability
Now is an opportune time
To fill your insect bellies
I would draw
A potent metaphor
Bursting with social relevance
And political overtones
But you are
Just a little bloodsucker
On a muggy morning
Savoring a feast
The global mega-merchant
Looming behind
Seems a fitting haven
For these winged devils
The price of progress
Is a vacant lot
Boasting an army
Of little bloodsuckers.
Blood Meal
