Back up again

As I’m destroyed by the ravages of time
As it pulls me down in wrinkled pain
With graying hair and sagging jowls
I lift myself back up again
Back up
Again

My bones they creak and pop and crackle
The pain attacks like a vicious jackal
Up I stand with groan and moan
Of my youthful life I must atone
But amongst this aged and constant pain
I lift myself back up again
Back up
Again

I watched my dad grow old and weary
My mom’s blue eyes grew glazed and bleary
Their bodies bent and spent and weak
Their minds went frail, too hard to speak
But through it all they found their gain
They picked themselves back up again
Back up
Again

A life of love and faithful giving
A life well spent with happy living
Years of joy and raising children
With fun and laughter by the million
That joy and love will never wane
If you pick yourself back up again
Back up
Again

Lift me up oh lofty sky
Pick me up sweet lullaby
Raise me up on wing so high
That I might ever never die
That I might ever never sigh
That I might never say goodbye
That this heart of love may never cry
Lift me up, dear faithful one
For I have only just begun

Back up
Again

Death will be your final victory over life
Rejoice, for victory comes even as you live
Spread your arms and embrace the future
