Grandma's Playing Bingo

Post by DarleneG » Sat Jan 18, 2014 6:45 am

Grandma's playing bingo,
at the casino once again.
And we don't want soup for supper,
so please God let her win!

The bingo bus is pulling up,
and grandma's first in line.
No shoving please, let grandma on.
She must get there on time.

There's free donuts and hot coffee,
so it must be senior day.
She'll greet her bingo buddies,
then they'll be off to play.

Bingo! bingo! bingo!
This time she just might win.
But please don't tell my grandma, God,
that gambling is a sin!

Because, while grandma's playing bingo,
look who's having fun!
Grandpa's playing poker,
and the party's just begun!

Actually, one might say that Bingo is not really "gambling". It is a great game and keeps us "older folks" off the streets and in a group just having fun. Anyway, I'll make that argument for Grandma. As for Grandpa's poker... hmmm.

Much enjoyed. Your little vignettes of life are always clever and endearing.

Thanks, Heinz, You vindicate me, since I am the bingo player! But the grandpa part was made up. I just thought the poem needed a fun last stanza. I have a bingo shirt that says, "Support Bingo. Keep Grandma off the street."
