Details In Due Course

Post by bags123 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 4:24 am

Details In Due Course

It has come to my attention
Through a reliably, good source
An astonishing confession
Which I'll detail in due course

But a word now from our sponsors
Who control all that we hear
Each complicit with their partners
Motives rarely, ever, clear

On return we'll sort the gossip
And ignore the latest news
Analyze their latest profits
Advocate our boorish views

But a word now from our sponsors
Who encourage you to buy
With commercial aired intrusions
Propagandas latest lies.

When we come back you'll all forget
what you were watching for
Uncircumspect, without regrets
Compliant evermore.

But a word now from our sponsers
who'll remind us why we're sad
Till we buy their latest gadgets
which replace the ones we had.

After that a new admission
From a reliably, good, source
An astonishing confession
Which I'll detail in due course
I prefer to keep an open mind,....but not so much that my brains fall out.- Carl Sagan

A delightful poem. Light and easy to read. Very clever commentary on part of our ever more commercial world. A pleasure. David

:hello: Hey, Bags! Nice write. I recently joined the 21st century and had Direct TV installed. I am enjoying the grace of DVR. I laughed when I watched my first recorded show, zooming quickly through the commercials, only to discover that the hour-long drama I watched regularly was reduced to about 33 minutes. It's no wonder advertising people are going insane trying to find more ways to pounce on us all with such inventions deleting their expensive propaganda.

Which, long story short, gives me more time to read things like good poetry -- like yours!

Leysa! Nice to see you back around! Hope life's been sharing it's goodness with you, and yours. I was in Siloam Springs a few months ago,...and thought of you.
How's the family? Mines' doing fine,...and the "Dude" abides. Happy New Year. :hugs:

Family is all well. It's been a while since I could say that truthfully, but everything has worked out. Lots of forgiveness going around, if you know what I mean, and reconciliations, and even a new baby.

I think it's time to shake my muse out of her stupor and get back to the joy of writing. You folks may have to suffer through some of my heartspeak soon!

Adverts are inescapable but rarely have the wanted effect at least with me.My mind immediately switches off. I find most adverts difficult to relate to the product they hope to sell.I suppose it keeps some people employed. I never find myself rushing out to buy some useless gadget. Thanks Ivor. I try shutting them off mentally too,...but some are so loud and obnoxious that they force they're way through.
