There ought to be!!

Post by poeticpiers » Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:05 pm

There ought to be!!

I’m paralysed and wheel chairbound.
Although I can still get around.
I cannot just go anywhere
Unless there’s access for my chair.

I am an independent man.
I try to do all that I can.
My home’s adapted to my need
Free access is guaranteed.

But when I face the world outside
I’m very rarely satisfied.
that people truly understand.
How hard it is when you are banned.

From places you would like to see.
There’s no access for folks like me

This should be posted on the walls of every place that isnt whellchair accessible! I have a friend whose child has down syndrome and is wheelchair bound. We ahve to make phone calls and scope out places before we decide to take the kiddos out anywhere to make sure that we will be able to get him in. Bravo!

I remember the days here in the US when the sidewalks didn't even have the depressions at the corners to allow wheelchair users to cross the street! Things have improved, but only slightly. We need to accomodate ALL our citizens!
