Life Recycling for Purple Lioness

Post by poeticpiers » Sun Sep 05, 2010 1:45 pm

Life recycling.

Patience is a virtue.

A squelchy bog my hunting ground.
Where fine fat frogs are to be found.
A hungry heron with the skill
can very quickly eat his fill.
The hunting skills come naturally.
Although the frogs are hard to see
We have the capability
to stand on one leg patiently
To watch and wait until we see
A frog that chooses unwisely.
To make a move which proves to be
his very last most probably.
A lightning strike; the frog is gone
We watch then for another one

Bon Appetit

A native hunting for the pot.
Soon learns the heron’s favourite spot.
He sees the heron as his prey
and watches and waits day by day
He shot an arrow from his bow
A shaft that brought the heron low.
Returning home triumphantly
with food to feed his family.
A predator was preyed upon
by another much bigger one.
Obedient to the age old law
of nature red in tooth and claw.
Eat or be eaten is the rule.
Which pupils learn in nature’s school.

The Food Chain.

Eying the human predator
hungrily an alligator.
Is certain that he has the right
to satisfy his appetite.
The hunter can become the prey
That has always been nature’s way.
Dependent on the circumstance
Each creature has to take its chance
To be a meal or have a meal
There is no way you can appeal.
Some must die so others live
Only the fittest will survive.
The alligator wins today
The human is his latest prey

Ultimate predator.

But in the end death claims them all.
It does not matter when they fall.
Each lives its own allotted span.
Amphibian and bird or man
Each death is part one great plan
Existing since the world began.
An ancient rule which still applies,
Beneath the ever changing skies.
Each creature tries its very best
and aims to outlive all the rest.
Nature plays no favourites.
She grants each species equal rights.
Though they compete on even terms.
The winners in the end are worms.
