The Fabric

Post by Mellen12 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 5:37 pm

Pale and soft, that's what it was
Across my shoulders and caressing my back
So I timidly leaned into it,
As a child holds onto his mother
In the darkest of winter nights.
Radiant and light, that's what is was
Touching my skin with a fabric of smoothness
Lovingly closing in all around me,
The ivory cloth aroused the peace within
And it's gold threads were whispering
Lines of music that I have never heard before.
In this cathedral it played with the angels
And I cried out "Rescue Me!
Oh, you of such perfect form,
Cover what flaws I have in plain view
Ignite a flame within the phantom's realm…”
But it slid off my shoulders
And fell quietly to the ground,
I picked it up, but too late to do so
For the congregation saw
What I was trying so hard to veil,
My corrupted innocence.
"A woman with the courage to step out into the unknown, risking temporary loneliness for a shot at lasting joy, is more than a "single." She's singular. Instead of defining herself by what she lacks - a relationship with a man - she defines herself by what she has: a relationship with God." ~from Dawn Eden's 'The Thrill of the Chaste'

Perhaps thats why we all adopt masks to wear in public.None of us are innocent.
