You don't know (Inspired by Sylvia Plath)

Post by Jade » Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:39 pm

You don’t know. You don’t know.
You cherish me far beyond my worth.
I sit at a round table filled with your people,
And every time tongues slip through their stories
The moment is on me and all I can do
Is say what you want to hear.

You don’t know. You don’t know.
I should be served a cold helping of food
With no fork nor spoon to eat with.
It’s out with the definite and in with denial
No perfect dinner would make me credible
I’m unobservable, senseless, and rude.

You should do it. You should do it.
Rid yourself of my backbiting ways and move.
Move on with your blameless life.
I won’t go unless you push me out
Into the flawed world,
To fit my flawed self and die in my bad habits.

I’m a mad girl; unhealthy and unfair.
The disease has taken over and I’m full of lies
I can’t part my lips to let the truth slip through anymore.
It’s become part of me and part of us.
Is that what you want?

But you don’t know. You don’t know.
I fool you while I fool even myself.
I’m a fool to think we can I go on like this forever;
But forever we just might.
Because You don’t know.
You don’t know.

sticks and stones are hard on bones
aimed with angry art,
words can sting like all things
but it's silence that breaks the heart

It was inspired by her poem "Daddy"
sticks and stones are hard on bones
aimed with angry art,
words can sting like all things
but it's silence that breaks the heart
