Pristine Wrists

Post by gordy » Wed May 24, 2006 12:45 pm

Pristine Wrists

I remember pristine wrists
and a crystal Sistene mind
wrinkle free mirrors and
a future chock full of time

Surrendering to illusions daily
ignoring chains in plain sight
Sliding the blade beneath the bonds
that held me bound so tight

Thinking this would somehow
suddenly make everything all right
But the blood I shed wasn't what
really changed me that fateful night

Now I see the shackles
laying broken lying on the ground
Cast off of scar-crossed wrists
raised high in freedom found

Eyes open to the present
mind clear and aware. Cutting
constantly at any rope tricks
the enemy may use to ensnare

Knowing that trials and
tests daily will arise
Finally I see the blood I shed
was merely a small sacrifice

I loved this. To me it represented the notion that pristine perfection and the act of keeping it up is like a prison or chains. and only in allowing yourself to be imperfect can you be free. Not sure if that's what you meant, but it meant a lot to me. Thanks for writing this!!
