Awesome...another Gordy classic....and yes, it causes my heart to swell and my eyes to tear.

It warms my heart and causes me to feel that it's okay to let "it" out, even if no one gets "it."

I think of the Psalms...or David dancing with all his might. :thewave:

Ohhh I wanna read the next one about the Dead Poetry Autopsy and how we dissect that which we think we know simply out of a need to be able to identify with shakespeare, cummings, etc.

gordy, what a very wise man you are.

A true poet sees, hears, feels, poetry in everything.
It does not have to rhyme, or be what
another thinks a poem should be. A true
poet sees every beat of the heart and soul,
of man and nature. He can dream through
infinity.

This is an amazing poem.

Beautiful, Beautiful, gordy.....

Hello Gordy, Nice Job. I don't remember giving you permission to stick up for or dissect the way in which I write My Dear Friend. Take Care
Take me back, so far back, adjust this fate. Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light. The fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul. Wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought. Add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

From: Summers Discontent 7-24-02

Sincerely

The Doctor, most definitely, is in. Nice job. Where else ya gonna find 'corpuscles' outside a medical or biological context?!

Neat analogies. But to be blunt poets and artists in order to keep doing are usually enclosed in alligator skins so that open heart vivisection would be very difficult to perform especially by members of there own craft. You have to be immune to opinion but know when to accept it...without of course admitting it.

i disagree, most artist and poets are very sensitive but are also great actors and skilled in hiding their hurts and because they hid them they usually come out in writings or paintings or they literally become actors where they can express their pain through characters thus achieving a release without revealing the true pain as their own or they become clowns acting silly and always seeming jovial to conceal their true feelings...... :2cents:

thank you very much for commenting, it is really appreciated

I agree but only insofar as these tribulations encompass all life subject to its acceptances and rejections not just artists however mediocre or great. The artist or writer is not in a unique position regarding pain. He is just more prone to receiving it because output becomes public and therefore subject to public opinion which rarely takes prisoners. That's the reason why I say artists in whatever media have to wear hardhats...aside from the fact that pain is often a catalyst to greater creativity.

I really like the way you "expressed" your ideas and the metaphors presented, in short, as written but can't really subscribe to the idea of poets subject to some bleeding heart neurosis whenever they get whacked. As a poet, which I'm really not, I know I'm semi-lousy, nowhere near as good as you or Bags and some others on the site. Even so I do enjoy the art and capable of living within my means when it comes to verdict without having to take blood pressure pills. On the sentiment we agree to disagree but I nevertheless admire the way you expressed it.

Having subscribed a few days ago I didn't think it appropriate to immediately submit poetry...or any unreasonable facsimile thereof so soon! I thought just to make comments for now especially on poems I like...which means there's some more on the way and remain lily-livered for at least another month or so before asking for any!

BTW who's the smiling Green Guy with the false teeth??
