Re: This Old Man

:hello: I liked your poem, too. And I am so sorry about your wife's father. I can relate with the illnesses that come with aging (because I am there, too). Loved your line (Days like suitcases are packed). :hearts:

Re: Final Flight

Thank you, Travis. He died in Nov. So the memories come flooding back. I still miss him so much. He was at the age when he was just getting interested in girls. I remember one of his insensitive school teachers who had planned a finals test in first aide at the same time as an afternoon school dance...

Re: Final Flight

This poem is written in memory of my son, Gary, who died in 1983, at age 13, from cystic fibrosis. I wrote it in cinquain form, consisting of 22-syllables. The lines go, 2-4-6-8-2. I recently started studying this form and this is my first attempt. I thought I would try something new for Gary. To pr...

Final Flight

Last hug!

Torn from my arms,

you fly with the angels.

I see Heaven's gate opening-----

for you.

A Poet's Day

In early morning , a poet writes. One with the dawning. While the morning sun lights the land, all earth wakes up yawning. And as the sun climbs the sky, poems live in the poet's eye. Daylight is diminishing. The poet is finishing. Ending come, and the day is done. That's what we think! But, still, ...

Listening For God

Your Word, Dear, Lord, I wait to hear, as hymns of praise, play in my ear. In you alone, I place my trust Your ways are loving, true and just. I pray my sins, You will forgive. My heart I bow, in You I live. Then in a hymn, Your voice I hear, singing to me, clarion clear. Listening for God, you, too...

Re: Mankind's Due

I'm happy to hear that, bags. But your poem doesn't show it! Also, I meant to say in my last reply that satan rules the earth for now because God wants people to have a choice. He won't force anyone to love Him. We can either go His Way or satans, that's our choice. And I think you knew I'd c...

Re: Mankind's Due

Oh, bags, Really, this comes from you! I never knew you felt this way! Did you write this as a scary warning because it's Halloween time? Yes, it's true! Satan does rule on earth today. God allows it for now. That is why, like you say, "the world is full of thieves and cheats." But, he won't rule fo...

Stretching With The Dawn

Stretching in early morning,
Earth wakes up yawning.

People stretching in early morning,
One with the dawning.

Re: Gloom in my Heart-room

:hello: All I know is what the Bible says: Resist the devil and he will flee from you. It may seem that you are alone, but God is with you, Our hope is in the Lord and God is never our enemy! When I am distressed, I know it's time to pray to God that He will forgive my sins and put a song in my hear...

Two Lugworms At The Beach

Sitting near the ocean's edge, with my ever present pad and pen, I watch a lugworm burrow down through the muddy cracks and crevices in the wet sand, perhaps creating his own underground moats and castles. And like this lowly lugworm, I, too, burrow down through the sand, searching in every crack, c...

Fish With A Wish

Splish! Splash! Went the little goldfish. As she flipped and flopped right out of her dish. Hiss-s-s-s-s! Hiss-s-s-s-s! Across the room, came a threatening sound. And she wished, oh she wished, she was back in her dish! The house cat pounced, and swished his tail, as he played with his squeaky fish,...
