Juko, I'm so deeply saddened by your experience. I'm even more saddened by your tangle of feelings - longings, self-doubts, recriminations, confusions, frustrations .... There's not a lot I can say. I'm glad that you're dealing with it, and trying to work through everything rather than keeping it in...

Yes - for me, there's a moment of freefall as the haiku shifts and opens my perceptions. The better the haiku, the longer the freefall. And true - the vast majority here is senryu - also lovely in its own right. richard a true haiku can indeed be breathtaking and can make you stop in your tracks and...

... a few additional Rilke samples for folks - some that also don't get much "air-time" [you who never arrived] You who never arrived in my arms, Beloved, who were lost from the start, I don't even know what songs would please you. I have given up trying to recognize you in the surging wave of the ...

I agree, Heinz - Walter Arndt does a poor job of rendering Rilke. Though he is also a bit flat and loses some nuance, I usually trust Stephen Mitchell the most, particularly for something like "Letters to Young Poet" or "The Notebooks of Malte Laurdis Brigge". Spot on for the prose, but drifts a bit...
